Virginie Primeau & Nikita Druzhynin

Ballroom Instructors

Nikita & Virginie knew each other as competitors. Although Nikita is from Ukraine and Virginie from Canada, they have been competing in the same categories internationally for many years. During 2018, these two young athletes (with their respective partners) became fierce competitors so they inevitably noticed each other.

In June 2018, Virginie and her partner separated. In July 2018, it was Nikita’s turn to end his partnership. Virginie therefore decided to fly to Ukraine on July 14th to do a “tryout” (short period of training to see if the two dancers in question fit well) with Nikita.

It was very simple, quick and efficient. Nikita and Virginie were a perfect match both physically and mentally. On July 20th, in Ukraine, they officially started dancing together, very excited to make a new start. They now spend the majority of their time between Ukraine (sadly not since the war), England, Italy, USA and Canada. Even though Nikita is from Ukraine and it is one of the most recognized countries in the ballroom dancing world, together they decided to proudly represent Canada. They have been dancing together for more than 6 years now and usually train more than 30 hours a week. During this period, they have already obtained results that no Canadian has obtained before on the international scene.

Here is an overview:
-5X Canadian Champions
-5X Champions of La Classique du Québec
-3X North-American Champions
-Champions of all competitions in Canada from 2018 to 2023
-5X World Championship finalists
-3rd place at the World Championship 2023
-2X finalists at the prestigious UK Open and International Dance Festival

These results have proven how great a couple Nikita & Virginie are. Their last important result, that of the 2023 World Championship in Assen, Neatherlands, is a Canadian record. They are now among the best couples in the world. Their constant improvement proves to their coaches and competitors that they could reach the top in the near future.

During the COVID pandemic, Nikita & Virginie also took advantage of this break from competitions to develop their dancing knowledge by increasing their training time enormously. In addition to being outstanding dancers, they are also excellent dance teachers and love to share their knowledge with others.

Unfortunately, 3 days after becoming bronze medalists at the World Championship in November 2023, Virginie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been going through all sorts of surgeries and treatments ever since, but hoping to finish everything in August 2025 as the doctors planned. Even though she is still in treatments, Nikita and her decided to make their comeback and their professional debut at La Classique du Quebec 2025. After being away from the competitive dance floor for 15 months, they still managed to come out as champions!

Given their high caliber, Nikita and Virginie represent Canada all around the world and they are hoping to get back to that lifestyle as soon as possible. Their next international goal is the Blackpool Dance Festival which will take place in May 2025 in England. This competition is one of the most important one of the year for all dancers and after such a difficult year, they hope to make their dreams come true!
