Ballroom Dance Teacher (Lead)
Position Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Ballroom Dance Teacher specialized in the lead role for standard dances. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ballroom dance, with many years of dancing and competing in Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, and Tango. Additional proficiency in Latin dances would be a bonus. The Ballroom Dance Teacher will be responsible for planning and conducting engaging dance classes, imparting essential techniques, and creating a vibrant and enjoyable learning environment. Responsibilities
Group lessons:
– Develop structured group lesson plans focusing on standard ballroom dances, including Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, and Tango.
– Introduce and reinforce fundamental techniques, footwork, and partnering skills.
Private lessons and competitive students
– create routines for competitive students
– coach competitive students for competition readiness
– teach private lessons to individuals or couples
Instruction:
– Provide clear and concise instructions to students, ensuring proper execution of movements and partnering techniques.
– Demonstrate lead and follow roles effectively, inspiring students to follow and develop their dance proficiency.
Student Engagement
– Establish a positive and encouraging atmosphere that fosters a love for ballroom dance.
– Encourage students to express themselves through movement while maintaining a disciplined and structured learning environment.
Communication:
– Communicate effectively with students, providing constructive feedback on technique and performance.
– Collaborate with fellow instructors and studio staff to coordinate dance education and events.
Qualifications
– Proven experience as a Ballroom Dance Teacher able to dance and demonstrate both lead and follow roles.
– Multiple years of experience in dancing and competing in 5 standard dances; Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, Quickstep, and Tango.
– Additional proficiency in Latin dances (bonus).
– Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
– Ability to inspire and engage students of all levels.
– Certification in dance education or relevant field is a plus.
– Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
