Common Questions
The questions we hear most from new students.
Is Quickstep a good dance to start with?expand_more
Yes. You can start with any dance, and Quickstep is a great choice. In the early lessons we focus on frame, connection, and getting comfortable moving at tempo, the fundamentals that make everything else click.
What music is Quickstep danced to?expand_more
Big-band swing, jazz standards, and faster crooner songs at roughly 50 beats per minute. The dance evolved from a 1920s mix of fast Foxtrot and the Charleston, which still shapes the rhythm.
Do I need exceptional fitness to take Quickstep?expand_more
No. Beginner classes build the fitness as you build the technique. The class structure (drills and recoveries) gives plenty of breathing room while you adjust to the pace.
Do I need a partner?expand_more
You don't need a partner to sign up. We encourage you to join with a partner (practicing together outside of class makes a real difference), but if you come on your own, we'll pair you up with someone during the lesson. Everyone is welcome.
